About Us

While Joshua Men Inc is a ministry primarily devoted to discipling men it is important to note that we support and affirm women as well. We believe that men and women are created equal and are together a representation of God on earth as stated in Genesis 1:27. We believe that every human-being is gifted by God with unique gifts and talents and that our individual role is to live those out to the best of our ability in the context of God honoring relationships.

Bryan Brutsman

Bryan Brutsman is our founder and the heart behind Joshua Men. He was born and raised in a small rural southern Idaho town and enjoys fishing, dirt bike riding and spending time outdoors. Bryan has been married for 26 years and has three adult children. He was raised in a two parent home until the age of 13 when his parents divorced. At that point he became the man of the house and felt an immense amount of pressure to step up and do the things his Dad would have done had he been present. At 14 he was cutting firewood for his family and doing other tasks like maintaining vehicles and plowing snow while going to school and working part time. He started working full time as a logger during the summer at 17. After getting married and starting his own family he realized how extensively his fathers absence had affected his ability to communicate and relate to his wife and children. He knew how to work hard and provide financially but struggled to emotionally connect with them.

Even as a young man he had a heart for bringing people together and enjoyed playing sports and building camaraderie on the team. As an adult his walk with God has challenged him to grow as a husband, father and leader. On his journey he was impacted by the work of John Eldredge the author of "Wild at Heart" and it challenged him to become the man that God created him to be. One who loves adventure, the outdoors, and thrives in a band of brothers. Bryan has been in ministry roles since 1998. Professionally, working with young men at a facility for at risk youth, then later as a men's discipleship pastor and community pastor. Personally, as a Celebrate Recovery leader, small group leader and men's ministry leader.

One day after meeting with his accountability group the thought came to Bryan that if his father had been in a band of brothers who encouraged him and held him accountable potentially the destruction of his family could have been avoided. Joshua Men was born out of a desire to provide a place for men to find those relationships and to equip them to become better husbands, fathers and leaders. Our culture says that we must be independant and find all the answers we need within ourselves but God says that we need each other. God designed us for community! Proverbs 27:17 says "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." The mission of Joshua Men is to "To encourage men to build a solid biblical foundation and a strong community of like-minded men so that they can live out their God given design in their homes, families, churches, and communities and be better husbands, fathers and leaders."

We will accomplish this by creating environments where men will:

  • Connect: Fun casual activities, classes (band of brothers), practical skill building workshops and classes, emotional and relational skill building workshops and classes.

  • Grow: develop spiritual maturity, integrity, and emotional and relational health through groups providing accountability and support.

  • Build Healthy Community: Through groups and activities, discipleship and service projects.

  • Invest: Invest in their family, community and church through discipleship and relational investment.
